Microsoft has released its latest web browser in the shape of Internet Explorer 8. The company's last launch was back in 2006 when IE7 was made available.
The new browser comes equipped with many new features and more importantly for you website owners and developers it provides facilities that allow your cascading style sheets to actually display your web pages in a more truer visual appearance where as in the past IE5, IE6 and IE7, there were many problems which resulted in the common, "IE Hacks", to make web pages work better for your users.

What does it mean for you?
The browser has been developed from a users point of view, adding in more user friendly features, ensuring greater stability through controlling crashes of the browser if they occur - and to combat this each web tab in the browser acts as its own process so that the whole program does not fail. Very useful if you have a number of websites open in a number of tabs.
There is improved search facility's and with added shopping search and comparison for the consumer this greatly improves the added value of Internet Explorer.

What does it mean for your website?
IE8 comes equipped with a new compatibility feature, which means you can quickly display websites that were designed for older browsers. If you're looking at a page and the text or images aren't lined up right, you can use the new Compatibility View button next to the Refresh button on the Address Bar.

There are improvements on performance which will result in websites loading faster when IE8 is used compared to older and previous versions. Greater compatibility with CSS2.1 will mean that you can now do more with your website and Internet Explorer without having the edit your website CSS files just to fit with IE8.

Where can I get it?
Download Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) now.
